The conditions, promising an engaging spectacle, did not disappoint. A robust breeze of 14 knots from the southwest graced the course, accompanied by waves that added a layer of complexity to the already fierce competition. The athletes skillfully navigated the water, balancing speed with wave management, a task that required precision as one mistake can be fatal and lead to a crash.
The men's quarter-final initiated with intense fervor, though it required a general recall due to a jump start. Following careful scrutiny of video footage, Thomas Goyard (FRA 3) and Grae Morris (AUS 81) faced disqualification for early starts. This paved the way for a restarted race where Sam Sills emerged victorious, securing a place in the semi-finals alongside Luca Di Tomassi who finished in 2nd.
In the women's quarter-final, an exhilarating clash saw Helene Noesmoen and Mina Mobekk advance to the semi-finals after a hard-fought contest, closely followed by Tamar Steinberg who was only a few meters behind.
The men's semi-finals saw Luuc van Opzeeland and Sebastian Koerdel automatically qualified, soon joined by Sam Sills and Luca Di Tomassi. Luuc van Opzeeland demonstrated exceptional prowess, clinching the race ahead of Sebastian Koerdel who then qualified for the final.
In the women's semi-finals, Shahar Tibi and Katy Spychakov emerged triumphant, earning their spot in the final round. The men's final showcased the remarkable talent of Nicolo Renna, automatically qualified by ranking 1st, and joined by Luuc van Opzeeland and Sebastian Koerdel after the semi final. A dynamic race ensued, with Luuc van Opzeeland gaining a significant lead, ultimately celebrating his victory with a jump. Sebastian Koerdel secured second place, while a brief slip cost Nicolo Renna his position.
