NEW BUILDER APPLICATION

The iQFOiL Class has introduced a multi-stage application process for brands and manufacturers seeking approval to produce Olympic equipment items designated under Class Rules as requiring ‘licensed builders’—including boards, foils, masts, booms, and sails.

This process is designed in full alignment with World Sailing’s Olympic Equipment Policy, ensuring that any party meeting the technical qualifications, regulatory criteria, and procedural requirements can fairly apply to become a licensed builder.

Following the selection of the iQFOiL as Olympic equipment for Men’s and Women’s Windsurfing, a core principle of the Class has been to accommodate multiple brands and manufacturers. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to maintaining a ‘one-design' standard, upholding fairness, consistency, and performance across all approved equipment.

The application process ensures that all approved builders are capable of delivering at the standards expected by the Class in critical areas such as:

- Quality control

- Global distribution

- Customer service

- Sustainability practices

- Production continuity and equipment availability

Applications are reviewed by an independent assessment panel comprising:

- iQFOiL Executive Committee representatives

- Class Technical Committee members

- World Sailing and independent experts

- Class-appointed representatives (non-voting)

This panel evaluates candidates based on published criteria, which may be updated as needed. By applying, all candidates agree to the terms of the process, and the panel’s decisions are final.

The New Builder Application Process reaffirms the iQFOiL Class’s commitment to openness, excellence, and long-term integrity in Olympic windsurfing.
